Origins
For this assignment, I am choosing to do a website. This is because I want to include an interface that contains art that was inspired by jazz, pictures, and youtube videos or sound clips of jazz recordings.
I am not entirely sure what program I am going to use, but I know that I do not wish to use Google Sites. I have been looking at several free programs, one of which is called Mobirise. The layout of the website will include the project title in a fancy, jazz-inspired graphic design created by myself at the top, followed by the page that the viewer has open. To the right will be the several tabs that link to the site’s various pages. I plan to include a page about each of the parts of this outline, as well as a page dedicated to short biographies of several jazz musicians. This will probably include Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, and Louis Armstrong. I may also include a page dedicated to videos and music, but that depends on whether or not I integrate these into the other pages.
Question: How did jazz affect racial tensions in its early days (1900-1930)?
Thesis: By utilising their versatile talents, African-American jazz musicians inspired white America and led to a greater appreciation for African American culture as well as social change.
